THE STORY: Our dad started snow skiing in 1970. In 1991, he bought a snowboard to try out and see what all the hype was about. After going back and forth between both sports for 2 winters, he eventually mastered “sliding sideways” enough to teach us. So in ‘93, he scored us a ‘89 Burton Cruiser kids board at a swap meet and off we went.
Growing up in Ohio, the “mainstream” snowboard scene was basically nonexistent to us. The internet wasn’t really a thing, and bookstores had no idea what snowboarding was, let alone carried shred magazines. Our main source of shred content came from the free Burton catalogs that we scored every preseason at our local shop, The Ski Chalet. We grew up aspiring to be the guys within the pages of those catalogs.
Fast forward to now, old dawg's in the shred game, but still having a blast on our boards at every turn. That is why we could not have been any more stoked than we were this summer when Burton Snowboards founder Jake Burton sent over this photo of him. Every winter for the last 20 years we have been wearing his name, and for him to personally reach out to us and proudly rock our gear while he was visiting Ohio will forever be the utmost honor for us.
Thank you Jake
